Interview Guide for Caregivers

One of The Helper Bees’ top priorities is to do right by our helpers – we want to match you with clients and families who you will connect and work well with. Here is a guide to help prepare you for your interviews with potential clients and to help you determine if a client is a good fit for you. These questions are just a guide to help you get started – feel free to add in your own questions and important topics of discussion when interviewing with potential new clients!

 

What Clients Might Ask You

Your Work Experience

  1. Tell me about your caregiving experience/background.
  2. Tell me about your experience with ___________ (specific task, condition, diagnosis, etc)
  3. Are there any tasks you are not comfortable performing?
  4. Do you have any other prior responsibilities? If so, would any prevent you from working your shift?

 

Personality Focused Questions

  1. Tell me about yourself and your interests.
  2. What do you like to do in your free time?
  3. How do you handle stress?

 

Questions For You To Ask 

  1. Ask more about the senior and his/or her needs/tasks.
  2. Ask about the senior’s personality, hobbies, etc.
  3. Ask them what they are looking for in their ideal helper.
  4. If you’re interviewing with the senior’s family member, ask them how they are doing.
  5. What would a typical day / shift look like? 

 

Sample Schedule
